Job Summary: The Project Manager, Access Control oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of projects involving mechanical door hardware, electronic access control systems, and related physical security technologies. This role acts as the connection between stakeholders, contractors, engineers, and other internal teams to ensure solutions are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with security standards and compliance requirements.

Job Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Execution

  • Leads end-to-end project management for physical security technology deployments, including mechanical door hardware upgrades, access control installations, and system integrations.
  • Develops and manages project plans, schedules, budgets, risks, and communication plans.
  • Coordinates with cross-functional teams for project planning and execution.
  • Monitors vendor performance to ensure adherence to specifications, timelines, and quality standards.
  • Conducts site assessments and participate in design reviews to validate hardware and system requirements.

Technical Accountabilities

  • Develops and produce door hardware schedules, architectural drawings, and security system design documentation.
  • Ensures compatibility between mechanical hardware, electrified hardware, and access control components.
  • Oversees and supports system configuration, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting during deployment and final procedure and documentation creation and handoff.,
  • Maintains working knowledge of ANSI/BHMA hardware standards, access control platforms, door hardware types, and low-voltage wiring.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Serves as the primary point of contact for vendors, hardware suppliers, and general contractors.
  • Facilitates stakeholder meetings, status updates, and project documentation.
  • Coordinates procurement activity, including specification creation, bid solicitation and evaluation, and vendor quote review and selection.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Conducts site inspections to verify installation quality and adherence to specifications.
  • Ensures compliance with security standards, life safety codes, ADA requirements, required building and fire codes, and enterprise security policies.

Job Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in physical security technology, door hardware, or access control integration.
  • Demonstrated project management experience in construction, security, or technology environments.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and electrified door hardware.
  • Experience coordinating with integrators, locksmiths, and construction teams.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple concurrent projects across multiple sites in alignment with timelines/deadlines.
  • Experience utilizing project management tools and technology.
  • Skilled in risk mitigation, change management, and stakeholder communication.
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, evolving environments.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
    • PMP, CAPM, or equivalent project management certification.
    • ASIS PSP or similar security certification.
    • Experience with enterprise access control platforms.
    • Familiarity with IT networking fundamentals
