Description

This is a seasonal position that will last through the beginning of October.

The Greenskeeper (under the supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent or foreman) performs routine manual labor involved in and/or related to Golf Course maintenance (performs semi-skilled grounds construction and maintenance work.) Ability to operate small hand powered equipment and occasionally performs work involving larger equipment / machines (Tractors, Fairway Units, Triplex Mowers, Walking Mowers, etc.)             

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Level I/II/III

  • Safely and properly operates the following types of equipment:
  • String Trimmers
  • Edger’s
  • Backpack Blowers
  • Returns all equipment to the designated location in the maintenance facility.
  • Assists in project work to include, but not limited to:
  • Construction of greens, tees and fairways
  • Prepares soil base
  • Lays sod
  • Seed tees, greens and fairways
  • Safely and properly operates trucks and light motorized equipment.
  • Maintains bunkers.
  • Develops a culture based on mutual respect, clear expectation with the ability to grow and develop as measured by turnover rates.
  • Maintains effective communication with the guests and fellow team members.
  • Does their part to ensure a safe work environment for themselves and team members by following safety rules.
  • Maintain Ball Washers and related supplies.
  • Maintain fuel and fluid levels of equipment required to perform job duties.

Level III

  • Ability to operate fairway and Rough Mowers safely and properly.
  • Course set up; sets tee markers and change cups.
  • Marks the Golf course for Golf Cart control, moves cart barriers and replaces worn or lost ropes / signs and mark hazard and drop areas.
  • Hand watering of greens and fairways.
  • Installs forms and lays walks / paths using gravel and asphalt mixes.
  • Excavates and backfills trenches and ditches with hand tools.
  • Repairs and replaces pipe on irrigation systems.
  • Knowledgeable of methods and materials used in grounds and landscape areas.
  • Weekend Foreman.

Ensuring that all tasks, whether they involve maintenance, operation, or ensuring safety, are carried out with precision. This is especially crucial when handling machinery, maintaining greens, and ensuring course aesthetics.

The role demands varying tasks from handling machinery, interacting with guests, to understanding cultural nuances. A Greenskeeper needs to be adaptable to the diverse range of responsibilities.
Team Collaboration
Given the nature of the work environment and the emphasis on mutual respect and clear expectations, the ability to work seamlessly with others is vital. This not only pertains to co-workers but also involves effective communication with guests and supervisors.

Safety Consciousness: A significant part of the role involves handling equipment, chemicals, and working in varying environmental conditions. An inherent consciousness for safety, for oneself and for others, is paramount.

Responsible for Internal Control and Compact compliance regarding Casino Operations and ensure compliance with regulations of the Tribal Gaming Commission.

  • AND 1-year related experience and/or training
  • OR equivalent combination of education and experience.  
  • Experience in turf maintenance preferred.

Level III

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • AND 2-year related experience and/or training
  • OR equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Experience in turf maintenance preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Class III Gaming License
  • Valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record

  • Lifting equipment (up to 50 lbs. unassisted)
  • Bending, standing, climbing or walking 
  • Must be able to safely use manual tools and power equipment common in the construction trades.
  • Must be able to handle hazardous materials safely and tolerate exposure to electrical and other environmental hazards.
