Description

The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) is a senior executive leader responsible for enterprise-wide marketing strategy, revenue growth, brand positioning, and guest engagement across all lines of business at Little Creek Casino Resort. With direction from the CEO, the CMO develops and executes long-term growth strategies that strengthen market share, increase profitability, optimize player reinvestment, and enhance the resort’s reputation within Washington State tribal gaming and hospitality markets. The CMO serves as a member of the Executive Leadership Team and collaborates closely with the CEO, CFO, COO, and Little Creek Casino Oversight Board (LCOB) to ensure marketing investments, loyalty strategies, and brand initiatives align with the strategic plan of the Squaxin Island Tribe and the long-term financial objectives of the enterprise.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Executive Strategy & Revenue Leadership

  • Develop and implement enterprise-wide marketing strategies aligned with Resort’s short-term and long-term strategic plan.
  • Establish revenue growth strategies across gaming, hotel, food & beverage, golf, entertainment, and resort amenities.
  • Provide executive oversight of player reinvestment philosophy and marketing ROI to ensure profitable growth.
  • Partner with the CFO to align marketing forecasts with financial modeling, capital planning, and long-range projections.
  • Advise the CEO and Executive Leadership Team on competitive positioning, pricing strategies, guest trends, and revenue optimization initiatives.
  • Present marketing performance, growth strategies, and long-term projections to executive leadership and governing bodies as required.

Brand & Market Positioning

  • Serve as executive steward of the Little Creek Casino Resort brand.
  • Ensure marketing strategies reflect and honor the cultural identity and values of the Squaxin Island Tribe.
  • Oversee long-term brand positioning strategies within the Washington regional gaming and hospitality market.
  • Drive consistent brand execution across all guest touchpoints and enterprise communications.

Database, Loyalty & Player Development Strategy

  • Provide executive oversight of CRM systems, loyalty program architecture, segmentation strategy, lifecycle marketing, and player development initiatives.
  • Establish reinvestment models and performance benchmarks to ensure promotional effectiveness and profitability.
  • Oversee VIP and Player Development strategy to maximize retention and high-value guest acquisition.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction trends and develop strategies to increase lifetime guest value.

Digital, Media & Marketing Technology

  • Oversee digital acquisition and retention strategies including paid media, search engine optimization, web optimization, mobile engagement, and emerging technologies.
  • Ensure marketing systems integrate effectively with casino management systems and financial reporting tools.
  • Leverage data analytics to drive predictive modeling and informed business decisions.

Financial Oversight & Budget Management

  • Develop and manage the annual marketing budget in alignment with financial goals and fiscal discipline.
  • Monitor return on investment across all marketing initiatives and promotional programs.
  • Oversee forecasting models, integrated revenue/expense projections, and performance dashboards.
  • Ensure marketing expenditures align with internal controls and procurement policies.

Enterprise Collaboration & Operational Alignment

  • Partner with the COO and operational leadership to align marketing strategies with operational execution.
  • Support pricing strategy, yield management initiatives, and cross-promotional opportunities.
  • Lead marketing involvement in expansion initiatives, capital projects, and brand repositioning efforts.

Public Relations & Community Engagement

  • Oversee enterprise public relations, media strategy, and community engagement efforts.
  • Serve as executive spokesperson when designated by the CEO.
  • Ensure brand storytelling reflects tribal heritage and community impact initiatives.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide executive leadership and mentorship to marketing directors, managers, and teams.
  • Develop succession planning and leadership bench strength within the marketing division.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and guest-centric thinking.

  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned to support the success of the CEO and LCCR.
  • Learn and implement LCCR’s “7 Waterways” of guest service practices.
  • Build upon and diligently practice personal emotional intelligence, including self-awareness, self-management, self-regulation, social awareness, and relationship management.
  • Demonstrate emotional intelligence in your explicit behaviors in your interpersonal work relationships with all team members, managers and supervisors, and our guests.

S.I.G.E. Tribal State Compact & Accounting & Internal Control
Duties And Responsibilities

Responsible for Internal Control and Compact compliance regarding Casino Operations and ensure compliance with regulations of the Tribal Gaming Commission.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Responsible for staff development and training programs.   
  • Responsible for rewards and recognition program to maximize team member engagement.   
  • Evaluates team members within the department and delivers constructive feedback to team members regarding performance.   
  • Determines recommendation for staffing (including interviewing and hiring) and scheduling (planning, assigning, and directing work) to meet business needs.   
  • Determines work procedures and expedites workflow.   
  • Responsible for team member performance (disciplining, coaching, counseling).   
  • Must be flexible with hours and days as events dictate.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned or necessary.

Requirements

Education And/Or Experience
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or related field required. Concentration in Marketing, Strategy, or Organizational Leadership preferred.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience serving as a Chief Marketing Officer or in a senior executive marketing leadership role within the gaming industry will be accepted in place of the degree requirement.
  • Demonstrated success in enterprise growth strategy, database-driven casino marketing, loyalty program architecture, reinvestment modeling, and brand leadership within a competitive market.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing significant marketing budgets, forecasting models, ROI analysis, and long-term strategic planning.
  • Experience presenting strategic initiatives, financial forecasts, and performance results to executive leadership, Tribal governance bodies, or boards of directors.
  • Hospitality marketing experience (hotel, entertainment, resort amenities) preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Class III Gaming License issued from the Squaxin Island Gaming Commission 
  • Requires a Valid Washington State Driver License and must be insurable on the Tribe’s insurance
