Position Summary

Under the direction of the Race & Sportsbook Director manage, administer and coordinate all Race & Sportsbook operations.

Supervision Exercised

Reports to the Race & Sportsbook Director.

Supervises the Race & Sportsbook Supervisor(s).

Major Duties And Responsibilities

  1. Manages the racing and sportsbook daily activities. 
  2. Assists the department director in the oversight of racing and sports betting and ensures compliance with federal and state gaming regulations.
  3. Performs mathematical operations quickly and accurately within the application of odds-making and line movement.
  4. Assists the department director with the completion of casino paperwork and correspondence.
  5. Manages, monitors, and tutors supervisory staff and ticket writers as they write and pay tickets.
  6. Assists the department director in accomplishing staff results by training Team Members; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining Team Members; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
  7. Ensures the department has all the needed supplies for day-to-day operations.
  8. Acts independently to resolve Guest/Team Member issues, exercising good fiscal and business judgment.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

  1. Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.
  2. Ability to manage, coordinate, direct, and assign work.

  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Ability to respond calmly when handling guests needs.
  7. Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures.
  8. Ability to assist in administering a departmental budget.
  9. Comprehensive understanding of odds-making and sports betting practices and procedures.
  10. Knowledge of Casino operations, Tribal, federal and state reporting requirements.

Minimum Qualifications, Education And Experience

Required

  1. High School Diploma, GED certification or equivalent.
  2. Five (5) years of Race & Sportsbook management experience, including knowledge of gaming regulations.
  3. Must be at least 21 years of age.

Licensing Status

  1. Must be able to obtain and maintain the required Gaming License.
  2. Will require a post-offer, pre-employment and random drug screening.

Working Conditions

  1. Work is performed indoors.
  2. Must be willing to work any shift when necessary, including weekends and holidays.
  3. Subject to hazards which may cause personal bodily harm; smoke, common colds, influenza, dust, odors, crowds and elevated noise levels.
  4. Must be able to stand or walk for 8 hours.
  5. Duties may involve walking, standing for long periods of time, sitting and crouching.
  6. Specific required movements include the following:
  • Trunk-bend, twist, rotate, push, pull, and carry
  • Arms-reach, carry, push, pull, lift, twist, and rotate
  • Legs-lift, push, pull, twist, and rotate
  • Hands-grasp, manipulate, bilateral coordination, eye and hand coordination, overall and finger dexterity
