INTRODUCTION:
Reporting to the General Manager, the Slot Manager is responsible for coordinating and exercising functional authority for planning, control, and integration of all gaming and Slots department activities. The Slot Manager is responsible for effectively monitoring the overall performance of electronic gaming devices and video lottery department personnel, ensuring proper staff levels, gaming machine mix, and video promotions that will result in the highest profitability and growth of Kla-Mo-Ya Casino
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Slot Manager must maintain the honesty of the Slot machines and instruct Slot staff to protect the integrity of Kla-Mo-Ya Casino.
- Responsible for the effective oversight of the Slot machines and Electronic System Operation maintenance and repairs.
- Responsible for developing, initiating, and enforcing all departmental policies to ensure compliance with Internal Controls.
- Responsible for ordering/purchasing and maintaining proper parts/supplies and inventory, which includes inventory control of all incoming sensitive materials.
- Assist Guest Relations and Marketing in the implementation of all video promotions to include assisting in the operation of the “Bonus Club.”
- Ensure jackpot/printed payout voucher redemption is carried out under departmental policies and procedures.
- Develop and implement all video game moves and changes in the floor plan in conjunction with compact, S/T MICS, and all governing documents and requirements.
- Work closely with all the other departments within the Casino to ensure prompt, professional, and courteous customer service on the gaming floor.
- Promptly resolve guest complaints regarding the Slot department.
- Exercise the full range of supervisory duties. Perform overall work schedules, and personally discuss the progress of work and problem areas as they arise. Recommend employee training and ensure that training opportunities are provided. Resolve complaints or minor grievances and advise employees on matters related to less than adequate performance. Keep employees informed of management policies and goals for the Slot department.
- Perform supervisory functions, including, but not limited to, staffing, schedules, performance evaluations, leave requests, and employee development.
- Ensure Slot staff provides a positive, professional, and courteous customer atmosphere on the gaming floor.
- Required to maintain a weekly log of Slot variances.
- Responsible for key control within the Slot Department, which includes use of appropriate forms and accessibility.
- Provide timely reports to the Supervisor.
- Monitor daily machine analysis reports for profitability, track variances on a daily basis for accountability, and work closely with accounting and MIS to resolve discrepancies and inconsistencies.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge and understanding of Internal Controls for the Slot department and Slot hold percentages.
- Knowledge of electronic game devices and progressive systems within a casino.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and concepts.
- Ability to comprehend, interpret, and convey rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of management concepts, principles, and practices applicable to the full range of duties and activities concerned with management, including personnel, finance, and records management systems.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing. Individual should be able to express self in a clear and concise manner of the purpose of verbal and written correspondence, reports, instructions, etc.
- Ability to function effectively under pressure of time and/or demands of several tasks at once by effectively planning, and prioritizing workload.
- Knowledge and ability to operate computer and various software programs, including spreadsheet application.
- Willingness and ability to work irregular schedules, which includes evenings and weekends.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information pertinent to the nature of the work.
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS:
- The Slot Manager works under the supervision of the Casino Manager who provides general instructions. Work is assigned in terms of functional objectives. The Casino Manager will provide guidance with unusual situations that do not have clear precedents or when clarifications or interpretation of policies regulations are in question.
- Assignments are performed according to various established procedures using set standards. Employee performs daily assignments independently, resolving normal questions and problems according to established procedures and past experience and precedent. Unusual, new or complex assignments which require directions from past experience or precedents are discussed with supervisor; however, employee exercises initiative in solving problems by researching answers.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or Equivalent. REQUIRED
- Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age. REQUIRED
- Associate of Arts Degree in electronics. PREFERRED
- Three (3) years related experience in SLOT operations, specifically gaming devices and progressive systems, and player tracking systems. REQUIRED
- Two (2) years work related experience in a customer service-oriented field, PREFERRED, one (1) year REQUIRED
- Must submit to and clear an Alcohol/Drug Screen. REQUIRED
- Must be Licensable by the Klamath Tribes Gaming Regulatory Commission. REQUIRED
- Tribal Preference will apply.
