Position Summary

Works closely with the Child Development Administrator to plan, implement, and evaluate/assess the required services from funding sources that are related to direct services for the children and families of the Early Childhood Development Programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Follows the Pueblo of Sandia Early Childhood Development Programs’ Policies and Procedures, and Health and Safety Codes.
2. Assists Child Development Administrator in the monitoring and assessment of services to young children and their families.
3. Develops, implements, and monitors the cycle calendar of events and required deadlines for Early Childhood Development Programs.
4. Participates in cross-training events that support the mission and goals of the Department of Education and the Pueblo of Sandia.
5. Maintains all certifications and credentials related to fulfilling the role as Early Childhood Coordinator.
6. Works with all team members to coordinate services and to ensure that health, family, and community partnerships are established and maintained.
7. Follows all federal, state, local, and Tribal regulations for the safety of children and families and assist the Childhood Development Administrator in the oversight of and compliance with said regulations.
8. Encourages parent and family involvement in development and education of children enrolled in the Early Childhood Development Center.
9. Works with the CDC Administrator to assist with the provision of Special Education and related services, to include parent communication, coordination of screening, and participation in individual Education Plans and Individual Family Service Plans for children age 6 weeks to 6 years.
10. Works with CDC Administrator to develop and update Parent Handbook on a yearly basis
11. Coordinates marketing to the residents of Sandia Pueblo regarding CDC services and activities.
12. Assists the Health Center team members with the provisions of health-related services and activities for the CDC students.
13. Serves on Sandia Pueblo committees and groups to represent the CDC,
14. Assists the Childhood Development Administrator in the implementation and monitoring of health requirements for children and team members, to include facilitation of Health Services Advisory Committee.
15. Implements and tracks all children’s files.
16. Collaborates with Early Childhood Development Administrator to ensure the successful operations of the center. Works closely with the Early Childhood Development Administrator to collect and provide information regarding student outcomes, to parents.
17. Monitors staff compliance of safety activities to include; the provision of fire drills, evacuation drills, and fully stocked first aid kits, etc.
18. Works with Cook in designing and implementing nutritional high-quality meal planning that reflect the community’s traditional foods and reflect the health issues facing the community and young children. Keeps food purchases within the budget and oversees the cleanliness of the kitchen.
19. Works with Cook in designing and implementing nutritional training opportunities for families and children in the programs.
20. Purchases monthly classroom supplies within budget.
21. Logs attendance, daily.
22. Works with finance on monthly childcare reports.
23. Monitors teachers’ lessons plans and acts as a mentor in the classroom, as needed.
24. Monitors the children’s files and reaches out to parents for missing items.
25. Helps with the planning of parent engagement activities, and implementing special events (such as kindergarten promotion).
26. Maintains yearly environmental studies on all classrooms to makes sure that they are meeting the highest levels of developmental standards.
27. Works with Media Specialist to develop an annual memory book for students.
28. Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility for all team members and are expected to report to work based upon the assigned scheduled each day in accordance with the Attendance Policy for Pueblo Sandia.

1. Performs work indoors and outdoors, on occasion.
2. Works a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings.

3. Hours are subject to change with overtime work required.

4. Performs other duties as requested.

This position has Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) identified as a measurement of success. KPI’s will be shared with all team members who work in this job title and feedback will be provided regarding the successful completion of the KPI’s as part of the performance review process.

6. Knowledge of Health and Safety Codes and policies and procedures for children and team members in childcare settings.
7. Knowledge in the coordination of agencies and providers for comprehensive services and activities to children and their families, birth to 6 years of age.
8. Knowledge of special needs services for children birth to 6 years of age.
9. Knowledge of developmental milestones for children, birth to 6 years of age.
10. Knowledge of monitoring and tracking of projects and children’s files.
11. Ability to deal effectively and professionally with the general public.
12. Ability to work harmoniously and professionally with team members and supervisors.
13. Ability to create an environment of teamwork by communicating common goals and showing appreciation for team members contributions and on-going support.

Education and Experience

Required:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or Early Childhood Development or other related degree.
2. Two (2) years of relevant experience working in an early child development setting.
3. Two (2) years of relevant experience working with community partners and resources.

License/Certifications/Registrations

1. Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted New Mexico driver’s license.

2. Must be able to successfully pass a stringent background and character investigation in compliance with PL

101.630.

3. Must have of obtain a current CPR certification.
