SUMMARY:

Directs the organization’s financial planning and accounting practices, as well as its relationship with lending institutions, investors and the financial community by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate managers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Regular and consistent attendance
• Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization’s fiscal function and performance.
• Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the company.
• Oversees and directs cash management, budgeting, audit, tax/licensing, accounting and insurance activities for the organization.
• Directs the accounting staff in providing and directing procedures and systems necessary to maintain proper records and to afford adequate accounting controls and services.
• Analyzes the organizations financial position and issues periodic financial and operating reports.
• Directs and coordinates the establishment of budget programs.
• Continual improvement of the budgeting process through education of Directors on financial issues affecting their budget.
• Analyzes, consolidates and directs all cost accounting procedures together with other statistical and routine reports.
• Oversees and directs the preparations of the annual audit.
• Directs and analyzes studies of general economic, business and financial conditions and their impact on the organization’s policies and procedures.
• Be an advisor from the financial perspective on any contracts into which the organization may enter.
• Evaluation of the accounting division structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as providing individuals with professional and personal growth with emphasis on opportunities of indivduals.
• Will oversee the E-Compliance every year submitted by payroll.
• Is responsible for maintaining adherence to all Federal, State and Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribal laws, procedures and regulations.
• Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manages four (4) subordinate supervisors (Cage Manager, Accounting Supervisor, Revenue Audit Supervisor and Count Team Supervisor) who supervise a total of 25 to 30 employers (cashier supervisors, cashiers, accountants, accounting clerks and count team members) in Accounting, the Cage and Count Room.  Is responsible for the overall direction, coordinate and evaluation of these units.
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration required; MBA or CPA preferred.
• A minimum of four (4) to seven (7) years experience in the finance or accounting field required.
• A minimum of two (2) years experience with casino and hotel operations/accounting preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write routine reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, managers and customers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

• Must be able to obtain an FSST Key Gaming License.
• Valid state driver’s license.
