Compensation: Starting at $86,705 per year

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for developing and implementing department goals and standards, directing, coordinating, overseeing and delegating daily repair tasks and making sure that the Isleta Casino and Resort is kept operational and presentable. This person is responsible to lead  service technicians who work with heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems and equipment. Will also be responsible for working with contractors for completing larger renovation projects. Promotes and Exhibits World Class Guest Service to all the Isleta Resort and Casino employees and guests.  Ensures employee and guest compliance and conforms to all Tribal, Federal, State, Pueblo of Isleta Regulatory, and Isleta Resort and Casino regulations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: This list of tasks is illustrative ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class.   • Leads troubleshooting team to repair building distribution systems including low pressure steam distribution, heat exchangers, hot and cold deck systems, air handlers, and pneumatic and digital controls
  • Responsible for the repair of commercial heating and cooling systems including combination units up to 100 tons capacity.
  • Assigns and schedules major component replacement work in conjunction with central energy management and control system operators with his team
  • Monitors and adjusts system set points and output using remote computer links the building’s programmable logic controls
  • Reads and interprets blueprints and sketches; reads and interprets various gauges; performs related work as required for his team
  • Instructs, and /or leads skilled tradespersons; may perform quality control and inspection duties related to the trade, and performs related work as required
  • Evaluates situations to determine appropriate action in regard to maintenance.
  • Oversees and performs troubleshooting and repair low temp equipment i.e. walk-in cooler & freezers, ice machines, refrigeration units.
  • Assigns troubleshooting and repair package a/c units
  • Schedules routine preventive maintenance on HVAC/R equipment i.e. belts, filters, bearing lubrication
  • Monitors and performs troubleshooting and repair on components on low pressure boiler systems, chiller systems, cooling towers including motor & pump replacement or repairs.
  • Oversees daily checks, completes assigned work orders and daily duties per Facility Maintenance SOPs.
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Maintains accurate preventive maintenance records.
  • Responds to Security alarm calls as needed.
  • Documents work by completing paperwork on each job, including daily time, progress, and duration in accordance to Facility Maintenance SOPs.
  • Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
  • Occasionally, prepares written materials (e.g. scope of work, work orders, bids, equipment inventory, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written support and/or conveying information for his team.
  • Occasionally performs quality control and inspection duties related to the trade.
  • Familiarization with safety, work place, education and understanding of State and local Safety Orders.
  • Familiarization with Blueprint reading, National Electric Code (NEC), Uniform Pluming Code (UMC), National Fire Protection Association Codes (NEPA), Life Safety Code, and local codes/practices as they pertain to trade.
  • Performs other duties of a similar or related level as necessary or assigned.
  • May be assigned to drive company vehicle on public roads, to and from Isleta Pueblo properties, and/or other destinations, during shift.

Accountability and Supervision:

Coordinates project scopes with the staff for HVAC Techs and Apprentices.

Demonstrate decisive leadership ability in accordance with the Isleta Resort and Casino’s policies, SOPs, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; reassigning employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems. 

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  •  AA/AS preferred.
  • Must have four years paid experience as a licensed Journeyman in heating/refrigeration work, and/or a certificate of completion, of such a program from a post-high school vocational institute, which may substitute for two (2) years; military, commercial, or industrial experience may substitute.5 years of supervisory experience
  • fire and safety credentials (S-95 and fire panel) and certificates of fitness for standpipes and sprinkler system
  • 5+ years of demonstrated construction supervision experience; preferably in commercial properties. 

Special Requirements, Licenses, and Certification

  • Must be able to acquire and maintain Key Gaming License issued through POIGRA.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and background investigation.
  • Must be flexible with work schedule. Must be willing to work any days/hours as needed or required to meet business needs.
  • Must maintain all Isleta Resort and Casino-wide educational and certification requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; excellent integrity.
  • Proven analytical skills and problem solving abilities; highly detailed and organized.
  • Ability to manage, supervise, mentor personnel; excellent communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, budget/cost control, quality control.
  • Ability to read and understand plans and specifications.
  • Industry specific knowledge of operations, equipment, methods, and materials.
  • Maintain OSHA 10, 30, First Aid, CPR certifications.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Must be able to navigate up and down stairs, ladders, crawl spaces, catwalks and uneven surfaces both in and out doors.
  • Must be able to climb ladders 40 feet in height and work at heights 27 feet from the floor’s surface.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift objects up to 100 - 200 pounds with assistance.
  • Must be able to lift, move and place 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Must be able to push and/or pull 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions particular to this region.
  • Must be able to work in small confined areas.
  • Smoke filled environment.
  • Work is generally performed in, both, an indoor and outdoor Casino setting with exposure to second-hand smoke and a high noise level. Possible expose to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, bio-hazards, Blood Borne Pathogens, dirt, dust, fumes, and/or unpleasant odors.
  • May involve exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

May occasionally deal with angry or hostile individuals.
