TITLE

                  Senior Staff Accountant

Duties:              Responsible for overseeing the accounting cycle, streamlining systems and procedures, working with all areas of the organization to ensure accuracy of financial results and adherence to internal controls, and financial reporting and analysis. Support the Controller and Director with the preparation and maintenance of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Prepare and assist in reviewing and approving journal entries to accurately close the monthly fiscal period in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Prepare and assist in reviewing and approving various reconciliations of accounts and journal entries related to such accounts. Perform and document analysis of accounting transactions, including comparisons to forecasted and trended results. Question/validate data provided, gather additional information, request clarification/backup documentation, correct inaccuracies to address other needs/issues prior (or subsequent) to the initiation of processing activities. Assist in the coordination of the month end closings, quarterly reviews and year-end audits. Assist with the preparation of a monthly financial review package. Assist in periodic operating or capital budgets in conjunction with departmental heads and other finance departments. Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements with footnotes. Maintain positive internal customer relationships by providing prompt and appropriate responses to inquiries, issues, and concerns when appropriate. Maintain audit schedules and request status during quarterly reviews and year-end audits. Provide input into department’s goal setting process. Perform supervisory responsibilities such as planning, assigning, reviewing and directing work, coaching and appraising performance of direct reports. Mentor and train subordinate staff accountants/clerk. Maintain high level confidentiality of data. 

Schedule

      40 hours per week, Monday through Friday

Requirements

Bachelor degree in Accounting and Auditing, or closely related field and four (4) years of experience as an Accountant, Internal Auditor, Accounting Specialist, or related role where required experience gained. 

Special Skills 

Also requires experience in the following: 

• Four (4) years of accrual accounting experience, including reconciliation/analysis and interaction with business unit management;
• Four (4) years of experience in Financial Accounting month-end/year-end close process;
• An accounting skills test will be administered and a 70% passing score for this position;
• Knowledge and practice of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP);
• Experience with accounting software such as Great Plains or Microsoft Dynamics;
• Must have a Florida Gaming License (or the ability to obtain and maintain a license); and
• Must have willingness and ability to work in a smoke/secondary smoke environment.
