Housekeeping Inspector

Position Summary

Inspect and train all housekeeping staff to meet the standards of a four star resort.  To ensure all housekeeping standards, as set forth by the Director of Housekeeping Services are met and exceeded.

Supervision Exercised

Reports to the Director of Housekeeping Service or the Housekeeping Supervisor.

Supervises the following personnel:

  • Guest Room Attendants
  • Turndown Attendants
  • House Persons

Major Duties And Responsibilities

  1. Inspects guest rooms, hallways and public areas immediately correcting any deficiencies.
  2. Inspects and evaluates workers performance to ensure quality service and compliance with room housekeeping specifications and ensuring all departures are completed by check in.
  3. Assists housekeeping supervisor with opening the house and other office duties.
  4. Ensures each staff members are following all safety precautions.
  5. Trains workers in proper operational procedures and functions.
  6. Resolves customer complaints regarding worker performance and services rendered.
  7. Inspects work areas and operating equipment to ensure conformance to established standards.
  8. Cleans and shampoos all carpets on assigned floors.
  9. Supervises and does performance appraisals on all assigned employees.
  10. Assists housekeeping supervisor with screening and interviewing of applicants.
  11. Performs the tasks of a guest room attendant, turndown attendant or house person as needed to facilitate service

  1. Excellent customer service skills.
  2. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  3. Ability to be detailed oriented.
  4. Ability to supervise and evaluate staff.

Minimum Qualifications, Education And Experience

Required

  1. High School Diploma, GED certification or equivalent.
  2. Two (2) years of housekeeping experience including one (1) year supervisory experience.
  3. Must be able to speak Basic English.

Licensing Status

  1. Must be able to successfully pass a stringent background investigation.
  2. Will require a post-offer, pre-employment and random drug screening.

Working Conditions

  1. Work is performed indoors and outdoors.
  2. Work hours subject to change with overtime work required.
  3. Subject to hazards which may cause personal bodily harm; smoke; diseases; cuts bruises, burns, common cold, influenza, dust, odors and elevated noise levels.
  4. Tasks may be performed on uneven, inclined, hard and soft carpeted floors, cement structures and surfaces.
  5. Duties may involve walking, standing, and crouching for long periods of time.
  6. Specific required movements include the following:
    1. Trunk- bend, twist, rotate, push, pull, carry.
    2. Arms – reach, carry, lift, twist, and rotate.
    3. Legs – lift, push, pull, twist, and rotate.
    4. Hands – Grasp, manipulate bilateral coordination, hand and eye coordination, and overall and finger dexterity.
  7. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
