Position Summary

Under supervision, the Groundskeeper will ensure that the general cleanliness of the parking lots, grounds, and other miscellaneous work as assigned is completed on a timely basis during the Groundskeeper work shift.

Supervision Exercised

Supervised by the Public Areas Supervisor and Groundskeeper Lead. The Groundskeeper has no supervisory authority.

Major Duties And Responsibilities

  1. Cleans the parking lot, parking garage and sidewalks of property.
  2. Cleans the amphitheater and all exterior areas of the Resort and Casino.
  3. Empties all trash cans around the exterior areas of the Resort and Casino.
  4. Uses power washing equipment on all outside areas of the Resort and Casino.
  5. Uses a parking lot/parking garage sweeper to clean parking areas, sidewalks, etc.
  6. Picks up trash and debris in all exterior areas of the Resort and Casino.
  7. Uses power blower for outside clean-up of rocks, sidewalks, and parking areas.
  8. Operates drain cleaning equipment (Ditch Witch).
  9. Reports equipment repair requirements to Public Area Supervisor or Groundskeeper Lead.
  10. On call for inclement weather conditions – use of ice melt equipment to spread ice melt.
  11. Complies with Housekeeping Department standard operating procedures.
  12. Performs additional duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  1. Ability to operate parking lot sweepers.
  2. Ability to use cleaning and other work tools.
  3. Ability to work power tools associated with work requirements safely.
  4. Knowledge of safety rules and requirements.

Minimum Qualifications, Education And Experience

Required

  1. Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted New Mexico Driver’s License.
  2. Must be at least 18 years of age.

Preferred

  1. High School Diploma, GED certification or equivalent.
  2. Experience in horticulture, building maintenance, custodial and/or yard maintenance.

Licensing Status

  1. Must be able to successfully pass a stringent background investigation.
  2. Will require a post-offer, pre-employment and random drug screening.

Working Conditions

  1. Work duties are performed primarily outside.  Work duties may require employees to work in temperature extremes and inclement weather.  Work apparel including standard work uniform issued by employer, may require employees to wear other apparel at his own expense to compensate for outside weather conditions.
  2. Subject to potential hazards such as broken glass, paints, thinner, solvents, gasoline, disinfectants, fertilizers, herbicides, and cleaning compounds.
  3. Subject to potential hazards such as motorized equipment.
  4. Additional potential hazards include exposure to infections, diseases, fumes, odors, mist, dust, and gases.
  5. Duties may involve walking, climbing, crawling, standing for long periods of time, sitting, crouching, kneeling, running, and the ability to assume a prone position.
  6. Work hours subject to change with overtime work required as approved by management.
  7. Must be able to work long hours under stressful conditions.
  8. Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs.
  9. Specific physical body movements require the following:
  • Trunk – bend, twist, rotate, push, pull, carry
  • Arms – reach, carries, push, pull, twists, rotate
  • Legs – lift, push, pull, twists, rotate, balance
  • Hands – grasp, manipulate, bilateral coordination, overall and finger dexterity
  • Eye and hand coordination.
