Kitchen Dining Heavy Cleaning Custodian

Position Summary

Under direct supervision of Kitchen/Dining Custodial Lead, perform the overall custodial functions and cleanliness of the Resort and Casino kitchens, dining areas, lounge and related facilities, including heavy cleaning, in accordance with management directives.

Major Duties And Responsibilities

  1. Performs kitchen/dining custodial duties, cleaning of ovens, stoves, floors, walls, doors, trash disposal, buffet bars, tables, ceiling fixtures, chairs and other duties as assigned by management.
  2. Responsible for cleaning of casino kitchens, specialty restaurants, buffet area, concession area, deli, lounges, dining areas and other areas as assigned by management.
  3. Moves or lifts furniture and boxes and must be able to safety lift at least 50 pounds.
  4. Responsible for preventive maintenance of custodial equipment and reporting of any equipment repair needs to management.
  5. Properly and safely disposes of refuse at directed by management.
  6. Serves as a mentor when assigned, training a new Kitchen/Dining Custodian Heavy Cleaning employees during the probationary period, using the amigo system.
  7. Participates in daily stand up meetings to ensure property communication is understood.
  8. Timely completion of computer assisted training as required.
  9. Cleans furniture, upholstery and carpets in eating areas and lounge as required.
  10. Maintains all heavy floor equipment and supplies applicable to floor cleaning requirements.
  11. Maintains a log of areas that have undergone heavy cleaning and is held accountable for weekly and monthly cleaning schedules.
  12. Performs additional duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned by Management.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  1. Ability to work with others.
  2. Ability to operate heavy cleaning equipment used in the performance of kitchen/dining custodial work.
  3. Ability to prepare Kitchen/Dining Custodial Heavy Cleaning reports.
  4. Knowledge of general safety rules, requirements, procedures, and reporting.
  5. Ability to communicate effectively and maintain good public and employee relations.

Minimum Qualifications, Education And Experience

Required

  1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
  2. Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted New Mexico Driver’s License.
  3. Two (2) years of experience in a kitchen/dining custodial work environment.

Preferred

  1. High School Diploma, GED certification or equivalent.

Licensing Status

  1. Must be able to successfully pass a stringent background investigation.
  2. Will require a post-offer, pre-employment and random drug screening.

Working Conditions

  1. Duties are performed indoors with certain outdoor activity as required.  Outdoor duties are subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather.
  2. Subject to potential hazards such as cleaning solvents and cleaning compounds.
  3. Subject to potential hazards such as heights, motorized equipment, and hand tools.
  4. Additional potential hazards include exposure to infections, diseases, fumes, odors, dust, mist, and gases.
  5. Duties may involve walking, climbing, crawling, standing for long periods of time, sitting, crouching, kneeling, running, and the ability to assume prone position.
  6. Work hours subject to change with overtime work required as approved by management.
  7. Must be able to work long hours under stressful conditions.
  8. Considerable work is physical activity.  Requires heavy physical work.
  9. Specific physical body movements require the following:
    1. Trunk-bend, twists, rotate, push, pull, carry
    2. Arms-reach, carries, push, pull, twists, rotate
    3. Legs-lift, push, pull, twists, rotate, balance
    4. Hands-grasp, manipulate, bilateral coordination, overall and finger dexterity
    5. Eye and hand coordination
  10. Ability to lift minimum of 60 pounds.
