The Opportunity

This position handles stocking of shelves and rotating of product.  Operating cash register when needed and responsible for assisting customers in a friendly and courteous manner.

What You Get to Do

  • Practice courteous and friendly customer service consistently.
  • Ensure proper vendor check-in following store procedures.
  • Stock and rotate products on shelves and displays as outlined in the Associate Manual.
  • Operate the cash register when necessary, performing all related checkout procedures typically handled by the Cashier.
  • Serve customers with cheerfulness, assisting in packing their purchases upon request in a prompt and efficient manner.
  • Assist in organizing and cleaning the back room and other designated areas of the store as instructed.
  • Straighten the in-store cart corral, remove paper and miscellaneous items from carts, and monitor cart performance, addressing carts in need of maintenance.
  • Perform price checks as directed.
  • Assist in the setup and dismantling of displays as directed by management.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and appearance of the front-end equipment and physical areas, including the parking lot, entryways, bathrooms, and trash cans.
  • Possess knowledge of product locations in the store.
  • Use and maintain equipment properly and safely to prevent injuries and protect store equipment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend store policies, procedures, and vendor invoices.
  • Handle any other projects and duties as assigned.

What Qualifies You

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience, previous customer service or retail store experience preferred.
  • Must be able to understand computer operations pertaining to vendor check in and able to read and understand product UPC codes.
  • Mille Lacs Band Member and American Indian preference will be exercised in the hiring process.

Must Have Skills

  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects with changing priorities, and work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulation.
  • Ability to effectively respond to questions from groups of Associates, managers, Guests, and the public. 
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, percentages, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to consult collaboratively to define problems collects data, establish facts, draw conclusions, and propose solutions.
  • Ability to interpret company policies and procedures and apply them in a consistent and fair manner. 

While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is regularly required to:

  • Talk and hear.
  • See and adjust focus to include close, distance, color, depth, and peripheral vision.
  • Stand, walk, run, sit, balance, stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, and/or crawl.
  • Handle objects, tools, and controls; reach with arms and hands.
  • Must be able to lift or exert up to 70 pounds occasionally carrying bulk dog food, case cartons of milk or beverages, trash containers, etc. and moderate amounts of frequency.
  • Must be able to climb a ladder to retrieve items stored in elevated or overhead racks or shelves located above refrigerated boxes, in stockrooms and other storage areas.
  • Must be able to sweep and mop floors, dust and face shelves, and lift and carry out trash containers to be emptied in an outside bin.
  • Must be able to stock coolers and shelves and endure working under temperature extremes in refrigerated storage areas up to 20 minutes at a time.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to:

  • A low-to-moderate noise level (offices).
  • A moderate-to-loud noise level (operations areas).
  • At times may be exposed to outside weather conditions.
