Job Overview: The Vendor Compliance Specialist is responsible for the vendor licensing process. This includes reviewing applications, conducting background investigations, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and maintaining accurate vendor license records. The role requires verifying that vendors meet all eligibility, licensing criteria, assessing background investigation results for suitability, processing applications in a timely manner, and ensuring continued compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and compacts.

Create Your Path: The Work You’ll Do:
- Maintain a comprehensive and current knowledge of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA), SMSC Gaming Ordinance, SMSC Gaming Regulations, National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) Regulations, Tribal/State Compacts, and internal policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with appropriate Gaming Enterprise staff to develop and maintain the online application and tracking portal.
- Communicate effectively and regularly with vendors, consultants, Gaming Enterprise staff, and Gaming Commission (GC) staff.
- Facilitate the intake, review, and processing of all vendor and consultant applications.
- Conduct thorough background investigations, review results, determine eligibility, and process license issuance for final approval and Commissioner signature.
- Ensure accurate data entry into appropriate databases and maintain both electronic and physical records in compliance with GC’s record retention policy, including scanning, storing, retrieving, and secure document destruction.
- Classify, review, track, and obtain regulatory approval for all Gaming Enterprise contracts.
- Reconcile and submit monthly departmental Vendor Fee reports.
- Develop, implement, and maintain departmental policies and procedures; provide recommendations or updates to SMSC Gaming Regulations as needed.
- Assess departmental needs and assist with budget planning.
- Track and identify any changes that have been made, compliance or regulatory and ensure that all processes are in alignment with all laws, regulations and standards.
- Proactively undertake and participate in required training or certification programs to maintain and enhance subject-matter expertise.
- Assist with employee backgrounding and investigations as needed.
- All other duties as directed.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A commitment to handling sensitive information with the utmost integrity and prudence, while maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Must meet the qualifications required to possess a gaming license.
- 3-5 years’ experience preferred, in a casino gaming environment.

- Must meet the qualifications required to possess a gaming license.
- Valid Class D driver’s license may be required with good driving record.
- Ability to travel for meetings, training and conferences; ability to adjust schedule and work flexible hours as needed or required.
- Working knowledge of office equipment, technology and software required.
- The ability to conduct in-depth research, gather data from multiple sources, and analyze findings to make informed recommendations.
- The capacity to prepare clear, concise reports and conduct effective interviews with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to manage multiple files, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- A commitment to handling sensitive information with discretion and maintaining confidentiality.
- Ability to adjust schedule and work flexible hours as needed.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
