The opportunity

Delaware North Parks and Resorts is hiring a full-time Safety Specialist to join our team at Kennedy Space Center, located on Merritt Island, Florida. As a Safety Specialist, you will assist the Safety Manager in maintaining safety programs and improving overall workforce safety awareness. This includes participating in facility safety audits and safety inspections; document control; record keeping; safety training for associates; leading, planning, and participating in Safety Committee meetings; assisting with work comp administration; and managing compliance with federal, state, and local Environmental, Health, and Safety regulatory guidelines.

Pay

$22.00 – $26.00 / hour

What will you do?

  •  Conduct regular inspections of job sites to identify job hazards and provide corrective measures.
  • Establish safe work procedures for all jobs performed by field employees and implement safety training programs for equipment usage, First Aid, CPR, HazCom, and OSHA.
  • Administer and oversee company safety program and safety committee.
  • Ensure compliance with all company, federal, state and local regulations.
  • Monitor company safety standards in accordance with OSHA and NASA regulations.
  • Investigate accident cause to identify preventive safety measures for incorporation into safety program.
  • Maintain programs and record keeping systems that track and evaluate safety compliance.
  • Demonstrate and trains in the proper use of all safety equipment.

More about you

  • Some experience in the safety field, preferably in the hospitality or construction industry. Proficient people skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills with all levels within the organization.
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal safety regulations preferred.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical requirements

  • Able to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time. 
  • Able to lift up to 30 lbs. independently.
