Position Summary

Under direct supervision of the IT Director, manages the coordination and completion of projects, budgets and support coordination within the Information Technology Department.  Oversees all aspects of projects.  Sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities and monitors and summarizes progress of projects.  Builds and maintains working relationships with team members, vendors and other departments involved in the projects.  Supervises the IT Project Coordinator and ensures that all training is completed for project, upgrades and other required IT training efforts.  Prepares reports for upper management regarding status of projects.  Oversee all aspects of budgets to include preparation of project and annual budgets, approval of all IT purchases up to the amount specified by the IT Director and completion of final cost analysis for all projects completed by the IT Department.  Oversees all aspects of support coordination to include continual oversight of IT Department spending and control of work order management.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  •  Ensures compliance with all Tohono O’odham Gaming Enterprise policies and procedures, including Internal Controls (ICs). 
  •  Ensures that all training for upgrades, new systems and other IT efforts is completed and documented.
  •  Ensures that all IT training for projects is completed and documented.
  •  Ensures adherence to established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, and safety standards.
  •  Manages all IT projects to ensure timely completion within the prescribed costs.
  •  Sets deadlines based on management directives and assign responsibilities for all project members to include IT staff, other departments’ staff and vendors required to complete the project.
  •  Monitors project progression and takes corrective actions when milestones are not completed in the prescribed time frame or fall below standards required for successful completion.
  •  Serves as the casinos’ focal point for the creation and use of Microsoft Project.
  •  Schedules and chairs project meetings for the project team and to update senior management as required.
  •  Oversees the development of computer-based training using the UPK system.
  •  Prepares reports for senior management on the status of projects and ensures currency of these reports.
  •  Participates as a member of management team in planning, problem resolution, and reviewing department performance.
  •  Reviews, evaluates and makes recommendations on proposals for software acquisition as required.
  •  Prepares project budgets, ensures that costs remain within stated budgets or obtains IT Director approval to exceed stated budgets and provides a final cost analysis of all IT projects.
  •  Coordinates annual fiscal year budget submission with all areas of IT and provides a final consolidated department budget for the IT Director.
  •  Approves all IT purchases up to the amount specified by the IT Director, creates processes and reports to track monthly and annual spending and advises the IT Director when spending levels will exceed monthly and annual budgets.
  •  Manages the support coordination effort to include oversight of all purchases required to provide IT support to all casinos.  Ensures that inventory levels are maintained to provide critical support components.
  •  Maintains currency of knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.
  •  Recommends, participates in the development of, writes and implements policies and procedures.
  •  Maintains a good communication with co-workers and maintains a positive and professional work environment.
  •  Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
  •  Performs other duties as required.
  • Minimum Requirements

    Education And Experience

    Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years’ experience in project management or equivalent combination of education and experience. Relevant and direct experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement. PMP certification is preferred.  Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Project. Must be 18 years of age or older. No felony, theft or stealing convictions. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, obtain and maintain a gaming license and to include the following:

    Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this job, the team member regularly is required to sit and stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The team member frequently is required to walk.  The team member occasionally is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The team member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

    Work Environment

    Work is generally performed in an office and casino setting with exposure to second-hand smoke and a high noise level.  Evening, graveyard, holiday and/or weekend work may be required.  Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
