JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
The Director of Marketing is responsible for the successful overall direction and management of all marketing activates related of the casino customer base. This position is responsible for ensuring effective promotions, special events, motor coach programs, as well as maintaining good public relations. All duties are to be performed within the guidelines of the Royal River Casino policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards and objectives.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Regular and consistent attendance
- Develops implements and maintains a targeted casino customer base, establishing strategies and production standards for the accomplishment of objectives.
- Executes all Marketing business plans to ensure performance and profit objectives for short and long-term goals are met.
- Ensures the proper preparation and execution of all special/promotional events and determine the targeted database selection for events.
- Reviews analysis and identifies promotions/events schedule for the casino customer base to ensure targeted markets are maintained.
- Establish, monitor and review individual departmental budgets on a regular basis. Ensure that the department is meeting or exceeding established financial and performance goals.
- Ensure effective recruitment, hiring, training, recognition, coaching, terminations and other personnel related matters are being handled appropriately throughout the department.
- Coordinates the Player Development in effective database marketing such as direct mail pieces, player tracking and slot club promotions.
- Directs and monitors all marketing analysis for accuracy and reports pertinent information to the General Manager
- Provides exceptional customer service to all patrons and communicates in a pleasant, friendly and professional manner at all times.
- Adheres to regulatory, departmental and company policies.
- Coordinates and attends all necessary training meetings
- Must be well versed and experienced in campaign management, P and L statements, budget and market plans, Oasis, Microsoft Office.
- At all times acts as a role model and always presents oneself as a credit to Royal River Hotel and Casino.
- Understands and read the State of South Dakota Gaming rules & regulations as well as the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribal Gaming rules and regulations.
- Responsible for the Marketing department's compliance with Tribal Gaming Regulations and Internal Controls.
- Oversees the administration of the Royal Rewards Program.
- Oversees the following staff: Marketing Manager, Database Analyst, Bussing Coordinator, Players Club Supervisor, Players Club Casino Hosts, Players Club Representatives, Players Club Valet.
- Oversees Entertainment and scheduling of entertainment events and concerts.
- Responsible for the Player Club's budget, Marketing budget, Entertainment Budget, and Bussing budget, requisitions and purchases for the department and adherence casino policies and procedures.
- Hires and administers discipline and reviews employee's performance at least annually.
- Ensures the proper training for each staff member and coaches staff to succeed.
- Assist all staff with any questions.
- Maintains confidentiality of sensitive materials.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of five (5) years Casino Marketing experience or background with a minimum of two (2) of those years at a supervisory level.
- Associate's degree in Marketing or Business Administration required.
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration or related field preferred.
- Must be competent with various PC based software programs and standard office equipment.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, type, writes, and interprets documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and/or procedural manuals. Proficient at writing or typing routine reports and correspondence. Skill to speak effectively and reasonably before groups, customers, or employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as Jackpot payouts, hand-pays, credit pays, short pays, Request for Fills, discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to perform normal mathematical computations in regard to the implementation of current duties.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding for carrying out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations; make clear sound decisions, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; apply common sense understanding in emergency situations, employee-conflict resolution, incidents and remain calm in situations such as physical confrontations, disorderly conduct, disturbances, robbery and/or hostage situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
FSST Key License and must possess valid driver's license.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to secondhand smoke, outside weather conditions and extreme heat or cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate/loud.
The Marketing Director may delegate functions to Marketing personnel as required in order to maintain other functions and obligations.
