The Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk Indians is governed by a constitution written during the Indian Reorganization Act (IRA) period of Indian Policy. The current constitution and by-laws, originally approved on January 15, 1936, has incorporated amendments over the years to address the changing times.

The Tribe is governed by the Community Council, which is composed of voting members.

The Tribe owns and operates Black Oak Casino in Tuolumne, CA which features four restaurants, three bars, a lounge nightclub, bowling alley and family fun center- along with over a thousand slot machines and 24 table games. Additionally, the Tribe owns the Westside Pavilion, Teleli Golf Course, RV Park and recreation area as well as Bear Creek convenience store and gas station located across the street from the Hotel parking lot.
