The Cosmetologist is responsible for working with clients to help them achieve desired haircuts, hairstyles, and nail designs. Their duties include interacting with clients, performing beautification techniques and providing spa-like services to their clients. Cosmetologists work directly with clients, using their expertise to create designs and looks.

Position Responsibilities 
  • Cutting, designing and shampooing hair
  • Making recommendations on haircuts and styles.
  • Perform scalp treatments.
  • Make-up application experience preferred
  • Receives guests for their services on time and in a courteous and polite manner
  • Provides consistent professional hair service in accordance with spa protocols and accepted certification practices; Accurately performs hair services as booked by the guest.
  • Properly opens and closes each shift according to Standard Operating Procedures; Properly cares for equipment and uses appropriate amounts of product to assist with cost controls; Upholds the standards of sanitation and sterilization as directed by law and the spa’s policies and procedures.
  • Provides accurate and detailed descriptions of hair services, packages, contraindications, facility features and hours of operation; Has complete knowledge and understanding of all services and products offered in order to actively promote services and promotions throughout the spa; Actively promotes home care programs, meeting retail sales goals.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of the company’s property, as well as special events on and near property, in order to advise guest of the same, whenever possible.
  • Responds to guest requests, complaints or inquiries professionally, courteously and promptly; Provides accurate, appropriate and immediate responses to all requests by guests, ensuring complete guest satisfaction; Ensures a maximum level of guest service and satisfaction is achieved and maintained.
  • Works without constant direct supervision and remains at assigned post for extended periods of time; Performs preparation work, properly cleans and restocks room as required.
  • Regularly attends, participates in and supports training and staff meetings for the Spa at Wind Creek Bethlehem.
  • Assists in all areas of the spa operation.
  • Ensures confidentiality with respect to guest information; Communicates to management any and all occurrences involving staff or guests in the spa that require attention.
  • Arrives on time for scheduled shifts, prompt with each appointment, and performs services within the appropriate time allotted for the service.
  • Maintains a positive attitude and contributes to a quality work environment.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Employment Requirements
  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older; proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High School diploma or GED required or currently enrolled and successfully complete a GED program within 6 months from start date as a condition of continued employment- required
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a positive/upbeat fashion utilizing English; both in oral and written form.
  • Interpersonal skills with focused attention on guest needs to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Maintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance adhering to Wind Creek appearance standards.
  • Maintain consistent adherence to Wind Creek customer service standards.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Specific Position Requirements  
  • Currently hold and maintain a Cosmetology License from the State Board of Cosmetology for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania required
  • Must have CPR certification
  • Capable of adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing in all units of measure
  • Must successfully pass job interview, including a guest service audition
  • Demonstrate all aspects of hospitality, professionalism, prompt and courteous service, positive demeanor in stressful situations, and attention to detail at all times
  • Aptitude to be efficient, productive, and maintain an on-time schedule of appointments; Able to receive the various services that are offered on the spa menu and be a model for training new therapists when requested
  • Must have enthusiasm and possess excellent customer service skills; Enjoy working with people and possess a friendly personality; Be a team player
  • Must be able to lift, pull, push, and/or carry items weighing in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds; be able to stand and/or walk for entire shift
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and listening skills; Must be able to comprehend instructions furnished in oral, written, or diagram form
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast paced, high volume environment; Ability to portray a calm and composed demeanor under stress
  • Must be able to operate standard office equipment – phones, computers, etc.
  • Willing to work odd and irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Willing to travel and participate in training as recommended or required
  • Physical ability to access all areas of the property.
  • Ability to withstand prolonged standing, stretching, bending and kneeling without restriction, work indoors, outdoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to CRT fatigue, noise, dust, cigarette smoke.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment and maintain physical stamina, proper mental attitude while dealing effectively with guests, management, team members, and outside contacts while working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to lift or carry a minimum of 20 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks assigned.
  • Ability to work with others, communicate well, receive direction; review your own work.
  • Maintain a positive attitude toward work and interface with guests in a friendly and polite manner.
  • Ability to address stressful situations with clients with dignity and the utmost tact and politeness.
  • Must be able to work with others, communicate well and receive direction when needed to achieve department goals and objectives.
  • Must be able to qualify for, apply for and obtain a Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board license if required.
