The Temporary by American Place

American Place in Waukegan IL, will transform Fountain Square into an unrivaled, upscale gaming and entertainment destination. It is slated to open in 2025. 

Until then an interim casino, The Temporary by American Place will feature 1,000 slot machines, 50 table games, three restaurants and a bar located inside a temporary structure. It will open by the end of 2022 and operate until the permanent American Place in Waukegan opens in 2025.

The permanent structure will feature a 81,500 square-foot world-class casino with a sportsbook, a premium 200 room hotel with 20 villas (with full butler service), an upscale steakhouse, a cafe and a food hall, as well as a 14,000 square-foot conference center, indoor live entertainment venue with 600 - 800 seats and an outdoor amphitheater with 5,000 - 7,000 seats.

The new American Place complex will be strategically located midway between Chicago and Milwaukee, attracting players and revelers from both important midwestern markets. A second phase of American Place is expected to include a four-star hotel with 150 rooms.
