Colonial Downs Racetrack & Rosie’s Gaming Emporium

Colonial Downs Racetrack, in New Kent, Va., hosts live thoroughbred racing on two state-of-the-art nationally renowned surfaces – the Secretariat Turf Course, is the widest grass racing surface in North America at 180 feet wide, on a 1 1/4-mile dirt track, which has played host to champion horses over the last two decades in prestigious races like the New Kent County Virginia Derby. Our dirt track is the country’s second largest and offers equine athletes a safe and sprawling oval on which to compete.

Rosie’s Gaming Emporium® has six (6) locations across Virginia (with 2 more under development), all offering separate smoking and non-smoking gaming areas, fast-casual dining, live entertainment and simulcast horse racing.

Our betting parlors are in New Kent, Vinton, Richmond, Hampton, Dumfries and Collinsville,Virginia. Rosie’s in Vinton and Dumfries were voted Best Place To Work in 2022 by The Roanoke Times and InsideNova.

Rosie’s in Emporia - located at 700 West Atlantic Street, Emporia, VA

The Rose Gaming Resort in Dumfries, which features a $372 million gaming and entertainment complex with 175,000 square feet of gaming space, a luxury hotel, eight bars and restaurants, a cultural venue, a space for meetings and events, and over 80 acres of green space.

The project’s first phase, includes 155 hotel rooms and an 80-acre public park, and is expected to open in late 2023. The Rose will replace the Rosie’s Gaming Emporium that currently operates historical horse-racing machines in Dumfries, VA.
