Major Focus

Responsible for assisting the Director and Manager-Buyer of Purchasing in the direction, goals, and coordination of all Purchasing Department activities.

Essential Functions

• Responsible for achieving financial objectives established by the Director of Purchasing.
• Responsible for contacting suppliers and to expedite delivery of materials.
• Responsible for clarifying needs with internal departments.
• Responsible for expediting deliveries of goods and where necessary, get the department approval for alternate methods or materials if delivery is not available when required.
• Responsible for the maintenance of the SWS System, including upgrades.
• Responsible for keeping departments advised with respect to lead time on critical material or affected products.
• Responsible for setting up suppliers and items in the purchasing system to expedite order placement.
• Must have knowledge of logistics and transportation methods of shipping.
• Must be able to follow and complete Sarbanes/Oxley Accounting and Reconciliation requirements.
• Maintains good company image and supplier relations through daily supplier contact.
• Responsible for answering and screening telephone calls and taking accurate messages.
• Provides exceptional customer-service.
• Works safely, following all established safety rules and regulations.
• Communicates effectively with co-workers, supervisors and guests.
• Follows all relevant policies and procedures, including SWS/MMS software requirements.
• Provides maintenance of the SWS system, including upgrades.
• Must comply with and enforce compliance with the company’s recycling program standards.

Additional Functions

• Provides back up to the Buyer position.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements/Education

• Must possess High School diploma or GED or equivalent required.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing; ability to logically and independently plan, organize and complete work; initiative.
• Well-developed interpersonal skills.
• Must have accurate typing skills.
• Must have the ability to set and achieve high standards of performance.
• Must have excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office.
• Must be able to make progress on multiple assignments under time constraints.
• Must have excellent analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
• Must have the ability to express ideas or make recommendations concerning job related issues.
• Must have the ability to learn specific job duties and complete detailed work assignments; maintain knowledge of basic concepts and techniques.
• Must have the ability to perceive quality of work, read material and review documents; receive instructions and hear inquires from guests, clients or staff.
• Must possess good communication skills.
• Must be able to report to work on time as scheduled.
• Must be able to work weekends, holidays and nights as needed.
• Must be able to successfully pass a background check.
• Must present an overall professional appearance and report to work in appropriate attire.
• Must be able to speak, read and write English
