Job Description

Under the direction of the Beverage Manager, the Beverage Supervisor is responsible for accurate and efficient inventory control of the Beverage Department. The Beverage Supervisor performs periodic inventories to ensure the proper quantities of product are available at all times, minimizing waste and any possible pilferage. The Beverage Supervisor is also responsible for training, coaching, and mentoring Beverage Inventory Control team members, and daily communications to support efficient operations within their function.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Trains, monitors and assists Beverage Inventory Control employees with daily beverage receiving and requisitioning following established procedures.  Trains personnel on the usage of the established Inventory Control System.  Makes written recommendations of changes in departmental procedures and is proactive in implementation of any new procedures adopted.

2. Ensures all beverage inventory is purchased, received, rotated, stored and issued in accordance with operational standards and processes to ensure cost and quality goals are met.  Monitors all product and supplies received to ensure quantity is accurate and meets established standards and specifications. Manages and expedites beverage product to receiving venues to ensure efficient flow of beverage production.  Monitors cleanliness of all work areas under their supervision and corrects any deficiencies.  Maintains a high standard of hygiene and sanitation throughout all areas.  Performs duties of subordinate employees as needed, including receiving, rotating, storing, issuing, etc.

3. Ensures the safety and security of all employees working in beverage storage areas by ensuring adherence to all policies, procedures and regulatory standards.  Monitors loss time injuries and implements programs and processes to reduce loss time when appropriate. Responsible for scheduling employees.  Supervises staff to ensure they are fully trained, operate in a safe and efficient manner and complete all assigned tasks within the time frame allotted.

4. Performs monthly inventory and submits reports to Beverage Manager.  Completes and analyzes required daily reports and communicates variances from established standards to Manager.  Monitors inventory on a daily basis to ensure adequate supplies are on hand at all times to meet projected needs based upon established par levels.  Makes recommendations of changes to par levels based on changes in inventory usage to ensure adequate supplies while minimizing waste.  Orders replacement inventory appropriately to avoid oversupply, while minimizing replacement cost. 

5. Maintains all equipment, to include but not limited to scales, pallet jacks and carts, (in accordance with maintenance schedules), orders repairs as needed and recommends replacements when warranted. 

6. Reviews staffing levels to maintain budgeted cost of labor.  Follows established policy and procedures in maintaining proper staffing levels.  Ensures minimum amount of labor is used to perform the required level of service without impacting service standards.  Manages assigned headcount to ensure: expense remains within budget; overtime is minimal; all staff are properly trained to perform their duties; adequate staff is hired, trained and reports to work for all assigned shifts; positive, supportive environment is created where talents, skills and trade practices are exchanged and operational support is provided to all subordinates; all required ServSafe, Foods Handlers/certifications are maintained by assigned staff.

7. Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the enterprise’s policies and applicable laws.   Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning reviewing and directing work; evaluating and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Requirements

Education/Experience/Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a Food and Beverage storeroom/inventory control operation, or Food and Beverage supervisory experience. 
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement daily assignments. 
  • Able to work under time constraints. 
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in the English language. 
  • Must possess advanced knowledge of liquor/beer/wine product and mixology.
  • Must possess knowledge of current OSHA and Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) regulations. 
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) is required.
  • Proficiency in point-of-sale and inventory systems such as InfoGenesis and Eatec is preferred.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work in a collaborative environment.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations

  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
  • A qualified candidate/employee must have and maintain a valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the enterprises insurance carrier.
  • Must obtain and maintain a ServSafe certification within 90 days of employment.
