Job Description

The Hospitality Sales Manager is responsible for developing and implementing the total sales and marketing strategy of the hotel.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Drives the preparation of the Hotel's annual operating budget, marketing plan and business plans.
  • Serves as a strategic partner with the Casino Marketing team.
  • Responsible for establishing and achieving sales goals. Analyzes current and potential market and sales trends.
  • Directs the day-to-day activities of the sales team.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with key clients.
  • Produces monthly reports and sales forecasts.
  • Creates and develops special events and sales events to showcase the hotel to potential clients.
  • Reviews advertising, print and other media for the hotel.
  • Works with advertising agencies, consulting firms and vendors to maximize advertising investments and ensure ads are appropriate to target audience and represent brand identity.
  • Attends trade shows and major market events locally and nationally to promote new business and increase sales for the hotel.
  • Work nights, weekends and/or holidays as needed.
  • Serves as a liaison for community collaborative events; assists in event planning and organizing.
  • Creatively collaborates with community, vintners associations, valley hospitality leaders and visitors’ bureaus and centers.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises 1 to 2 employees in the Group Sales Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Three years related experience and/or training in hospitality, hotel sales or marketing with direct supervisory experience over a sales team; Bachelor’s degree (B.A.); or equivalent combination of experience and education. Must have strong negotiating and selling skills and techniques. Must have strong organizational skills.
 
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated patience and tact.
 
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
 
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
