Reed Exhibitions is looking for more great Event Directors!

Global Gaming Expo (G2E), presented by the American Gaming Association (AGA), is the world’s largest gathering of gaming professionals. The show features a comprehensive international marketplace which attracts nearly 26,000 gaming professionals each year to network, conduct business, interact with new technologies and access innovative products and services. G2E is the industry launch platform.  

G2E’s educational offerings are unparalleled as they are driven by the profession, offering content of the highest quality and relevance on a range of trending topics in the world of gaming, hotel/resorts and non-gaming amenities. G2E is the event that brings relevant education and emerging business opportunities to the forefront of the industry.

As the industry evolves and continues to branch out into new areas (e.g., sports betting, esports, igaming), Reed Exhibitions is looking for an Event Director to ensure the show evolves with it and is always positioned to best serve their constituency.

The Event Director will be responsible for refining the vision and leading a team to implement the strategy and execute on the objectives. As a leader, you will be tasked with inspiring cross-functional teams to work together to deliver on key objectives.  And as the business owner, you will be charged with building and growing the show brand, both from an industry awareness perspective as well as P&L.

In order to be successful in the role you must be intellectually curious, passionate about the gaming industry, creative in your customer service approach and willing to challenge and be challenged to deliver even better results than expected. You will shape the future of this show.

CANDIDATE PROFILE:
The preferred candidate will have credibility in the gaming sector and a proven track record of customer focused leadership. They will have successfully built new business segments while growing existing portfolios.  He/she should be experienced with strategic alliances/business communities and developing new lines of business and products.

They will be skilled in reviewing, recommending and integrating new innovations.  They will enjoy leading diverse teams of both direct and indirect reports demonstrating a strong authentic leadership style with an active focus on customer engagement. Critical to success will be a high level of emotional intelligence and organizational awareness to allow them to collaborate and leverage the expertise of both colleagues across the company as well as external partners on innovative and strategic initiatives.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
Develop, execute and own the performance of an Event or portfolio of Events that deliver positive business outcomes to B2B customers (exhibitors and visitors) whilst driving revenue and profit growth for RX.  Use customer insights to develop new service/product solutions or build brand extensions based on customer needs.

4.  Creates superior customer solutions by identifying customer needs and problems that need to be solved and leveraging solutions to transform business needs. Collaborates successfully with others internally to share customer insights and know-how
5.  Inspires sustainably high levels of employee performance by creating the optimal state for the Exhibition Team; grows skills and capability by focusing efforts on building the capacity of their business area
6.  Maintains team focus by prioritizing, sequencing and focusing energy; leads a holistic approach to planning to ensure commitments are delivered on time to high quality

Requirements

GAMING INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE IS PREFERRED

Professional Profile

Prior Knowledge

Market and sector understanding, sufficient to have a dialogue with, and gain the respect of customers, trade bodies, sales and marketing staff

Expertise

Several years’ experience in a commercial environment in brand management and/or product management focused role/s with  experience of Profit and Loss management

Brand and Product Focus

A proven ability to adapt as a product manager to different industries is important.  Highly developed industry insights and a capacity for their given sector are preferred. The role holder needs to exhibit with a keen understanding of the customer market, the product category, and the competitive landscape.   They should understand specific market factors, such as: customer segments and their needs; buyer behaviors; competitive landscape; product features; relevant technology trends, especially disruptors; supplier technologies. Delivery of financial targets is of paramount importance

Leadership Capability

Experience of building and managing professional teams, preferably in an international business
