Job Description

SUMMARY:
The Director of Network Operations is responsible for the planning, implementation, repair and maintenance of all organizational network infrastructure.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Leads all network engineers and administers for systems and servers related to organizational LAN and WAN (e.g. email systems, accounts, workstation ID, IP assignments, security, antivirus, spyware, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of services to authorized users.
  • Works with other members of IT Management to ensure network operations are available and are secured for use by all network applications and system users.
  • Maintains network operations and software applications (e.g. servers (file, print, application, WEB, database, proxy, etc.), operating systems, organizational server backup, routine maintenance programs, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring efficient operations.
  • Manages servers and network resources including network applications for the purpose of delivering services in compliance with established guidelines and/or objectives.
  • Participates in a variety of planning and development activities, including company-wide committees for the purpose of creating short and long range plans.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the business.
  • Prepares written materials (e.g. procedures, system level documentation, reports, memos, letters, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
  • Recommends equipment, supplies and materials for the purpose of acquiring required items and completing jobs efficiently.
  • Researches trends, products, equipment, tests, etc. for the purpose of recommending procedures and/or purchases.
  • Responds to emergency situations as needed for the purpose of resolving immediate concerns. Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources (e.g. staff, administrators, support personnel, outside vendors and service providers, etc.) for the purpose of providing technical assistance and support.
  • Trains other staff (primarily within the technology area) for the purpose of ensuring their ability to use new and/or existing operating systems and application software.
  • This position is responsible for orchestrating, implementing and monitoring all phases of information technology network administration for the enterprise. This position is accountable for the enterprise network architecture, and the evaluation and deployment of all network equipment and topologies.
  • Coordinates work flow to ensure effective overall operations in the I.T. Department.
  • Routinely inspects all supported equipment, identifying potential problems and coordinating the repair of same, as needed.
  • Facilitates the flow of information throughout the I.T. Department by attending regularly scheduled departmental meetings.
  • Ensures a maximum level of service and satisfaction to all systems users is achieved and maintained.
  • Contacts vendors with regard to specific software, hardware or phone problems, as needed or as requested by I.T. management.
  • Any other duties as assigned by management.

Directly supervises Network Engineering, and Network Administrative staff.

Requirements

GAMING INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE IS PREFERRED

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Ten years of IT professional and Network related experience with a minimum of five years IT Management experience related specifically to network engineering, system engineering, or network architecture. Bachelor's degree in computer science or related area preferred.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess effective communication skills, and be computer-literate, with superior programming and usage skills.

This position requires a Level 2 Gaming License.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex of documents, such as technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from guests, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, and work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to leverage technical expertise to fully understand and meet the finance department's technical and reporting needs and requirements. Ability to develop and maintain a strong relationship with casino technical staff. Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel. Ability to specify and develop queries/reports using a range of software. Ability to think logically and follow detailed instructions.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on the casino floor, the noise level increases to loud. A casino environment is typically smoky.
