The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians (SMBMI) is a self-governing nation that has established tribally managed governmental units to enhance and support services on the San Manuel reservation. The San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission (SMTGC) is the governmental unit created by tribal ordinance as the primary regulator of gaming within the SMBMI’s jurisdiction, including the Yaamava’ Resort & Casino. The SMTGC, which includes the Surveillance department, is responsible for maintaining legal and regulatory compliance, ensuring a high level of integrity, and safeguarding Tribal and Casino assets.Under the direction of the Surveillance Operations Supervisor, the Surveillance Agent I is responsible for regulatory enforcement and compliance of established policies, procedures, regulatory publications, Federal, and State laws. The Surveillance Agent I assists in non-gaming asset protection in and around the Yaamava’ Resort & Casino and other Tribal buildings or properties. In addition, the Surveillance Agent I ensures procedural violations are documented, potential violations are reviewed, and actively upholds the ongoing safety and security of all guests, and team members while safeguarding enterprise assets. Jurisdiction includes properties owned and operated by SMBMI. Areas of responsibility include the non-gaming areas of the Yaamava’ Resort & Casino, and numerous SMBMI remote site locations.
The Senior Employee Communications Specialist for the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians will play a key role in shaping a high-performance organization and engaged workforce. At the heart of shaping an engaged workforce is effective communication. Reporting to the Employee Communications Manager, the Senior Employee Communications Specialist is a strategic partner both to senior leaders within Human Resources (HR) and to those of outlying departments. The candidate is responsible for orchestrating comprehensive, integrated communications plans that support strategic HR and organization initiatives. Execution of these plans will ultimately support employee engagement and organizational performance.
Under the direction of the Tribal Custodian Supervisor, the Custodian will work in a team environment to accomplish daily and weekly duties with the goal of maintaining the general appearance and cleanliness of the facility. A successful candidate will possess the ability and willingness to travel between various sites of the enterprise as required, knowing the assigned location may change on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. The individual selected for this role is expected to assist in championing the goals and priorities of the Tribe in a manner that reflects and upholds the Tribal Community’s vision, mission and values.
The Executive Assistant provides high-level administrative and professional support to the HR executive team to enhance the effectiveness of these executives by executing a variety of complex administrative duties requiring sensitivity and discretion. The Executive Assistant is a seasoned professional who maintains poise in fast-paced situations and is required to use independent judgment and initiative in the planning, organization, and performance of confidential and time sensitive administrative assignments.
Under the direction of the Chief Investment Officer, the Executive Assistant is responsible for providing high-level administrative and professional support to the Investment Strategies department. The position enhances office effectiveness, utilizing excellent communication and time management skills and through the execution of a variety of complex administrative duties requiring sensitivity, initiative and independent judgment. Under the direction of the Manager, Product & Design, the UX/UI Designer II is responsible for having a solid understanding of the best practices used for the user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) of software solutions and their application to custom developed solutions. This position works with various team members within the Product Development team and various enterprise stakeholder groups to define best in class UX models for multiple unique custom solutions. The UX/UI Designer II is also responsible for a products useful lifecycle to ensure that it is enhanced with the latest approaches to design, and user experience practices that align with our diverse user base across the custom solutions we offer to the enterprise.
Under the direction of Office of the Tribal Council staff leadership, the Executive Administrator provides high-level quality support services and output to support the efficient functioning of the Office of the Tribal Council department and various Tribal initiatives. The Executive Administrator is a skilled professional and leader responsible for the overall day-to-day oversight and program management of administrative support in assigned areas such as Tribal Council, Entertainment Authority, department operations, tribal government actions, constitution implementation, or committee and subcommittee initiatives and projects.
Under the supervision of the Licensing Supervisor, the Investigative Assistant is a multi-function position of a highly responsible nature. The Investigative Assistant is responsible for assisting the background investigators in all aspects of the investigation, other than interviewing applicants/employees and making licensing recommendations. The incumbent will compile evidentiary documents from a variety of resources to assist investigations teams with case resolution. The Investigative Assistant is also responsible for assisting and supporting all departments within the Gaming Commission and Surveillance departments in the overall maintenance and retention of all gaming files and records.
Under the direction of the Supervisor, Creative Services, the Graphic Designer is responsible for the creative development of designs, layouts and templates, and other marketing materials for our overall brand, print, and digital presentations across various platforms and deliverables for San Manuel Band of Mission Indians (SMBMI), Yaamava’ Resort and Casino (YRC), and Palms Casino Resort.
Under the direction of the Manager, Fleet the Enterprise Fleet Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, repairing, and servicing of enterprise vehicles. This position delivers world-class fleet service, in accordance with current policies, procedures, and established objectives. The Enterprise Fleet Mechanic ensures that all preventative maintenance and inspections are conducted in a timely manner to extend the useful life and safe operation of enterprise vehicles. The Enterprise Fleet Mechanic champions the goals and priorities of the Tribe in a manner that faithfully reflects and upholds the Tribes vision, mission, and values.
Reporting to the Manager of Payroll Operations, Tribal Finance, the Workday Payroll Analyst is responsible for system-related processes such as configuration, analysis, reporting, testing, IT and HRIS interfacing, technical support, and overall administration and establishing new entities within the payroll software. The Workday Payroll Analyst collaborates with the Manager, Payroll Operations to plan and supervise various elements of the payroll program and recommends long-range development plans to ensure the efficiency of the payroll systems. This role coordinates with outside parties to ensure all compliance reporting is completely timely, prepares the quarterly and annual reconciliations and assists in audits both internal and external. This role will also serve as subject matter expert of the payroll system(s) and be responsible for supporting the efficient operation of the department by ensuring that tight deadlines are met including a multitude of other payroll activities.
Under the direction of the Reservation Security Sergeant, the Reservation Asset Protection Specialist is responsible for monitoring the security of the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Reservation and any additional Tribal buildings, as assigned. Under the direction of the Supervisor, Landscape – Public Works, the Landscaper will be responsible for general facility and grounds maintenance on the Tribal Reservation as well as other San Manuel Band of Mission Indian (SMBMI) properties. While working as a part of a closely-knit team, the primary duty of the Landscaper will be to perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled work in the maintenance of San Manuel grounds, equipment, buildings, and facilities; and to do related work as assigned to maintain the efficient operation and upkeep of San Manuel properties.
Under the direction of the VP, Enterprise Legal Compliance, the Privacy & Records Program Manager will be a key contributor in the development of the enterprise-wide records management and data privacy programs, to ensure the Tribe’s compliance with all applicable, new and evolving privacy requirements. Then, will be responsible for implementing and managing the programs. The Program Manager leverages extensive knowledge of privacy and records management protocols to manage day-to-day operations, compliance, periodic audits, and scheduled reporting.
Under the direction of the Manager, Disaster Services, the Emergency Management Specialist is responsible for supporting the Office of Emergency Management team in the execution of an integrated, long-term strategy for emergency preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation, working with internal and external partners. This position will have responsibilities across the emergency management lifecycle ensuring the protection of the Tribe’s people, its businesses, and the Tribal Community at-large. In addition to achieving organizational goals, the candidate will work to enhance engagement and collaboration driving effective integration with all cross-functional partners. The Emergency Management Specialist is responsible for a broad range of responsibilities across the Office of Emergency Management, including but not limited to: assisting in the development of assessments, plans, and other products to help the Enterprise identify and respond to risks that can impact the Tribal Community and/or interrupt it’s Enterprise operations. Under the direction of Capital Projects management, the Sr. Accountant Fixed Assets is responsible of preparing journal entries and reconciliations for the monthly general ledger. This position is subject to tight deadlines and multitude of accounting activities including general ledger reconciliations and year-end audit.
Under the Direction of the Wardrobe Manager, the Seamer/Seamstress is responsible for operating a sewing machine to join, gather, hem, reinforce, construct and decorate uniforms. The Seamer/Seamstress is also responsible for the mass production of accessories. Fits, measures and performs all other necessary alterations to Enterprise issued wardrobe.
Under the direction of the Department of Public Safety (DPS) Shift Sergeant, the Public Safety Officer (PSO) is a uniformed, armed position responsible for providing public safety to the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians (SMBMI) Reservation and all its Tribal citizens, assets, customers, facilities, and operations, including the Yaamava Resort and Casino at San Manuel. This position requires exceptional customer relations skills. PSOs must deliver critical safety and security services in a business-oriented, courteous, customer service, and professional manner. PSO’s are involved with the enforcement of laws, rules, and regulations under the State of California, Federal, and Tribal Government codes, securing an assigned area, conducting investigations, collecting evidence, and preparing timely and accurate reports. Duties also involve crime prevention, investigating crimes, detaining suspects, responding to emergencies, performing as initial Incident Commander until relieved, testifying in court proceedings, and protection of life. The PSO may be assigned to various special assignments such as executive protection, canine operations, among others. The Public Safety Officer also collaborates, initiates, and supports opportunities with other functions by championing the goals and priorities of the Tribe in a manner that faithfully reflects and upholds the Tribe’s mission, vision, and values.
Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the Senior People Partner will provide exceptional customer support to all levels of the enterprise workforce in support of the Tribe’s vision, mission, and values. The Senior People Partner will play a critical role on the HR team to drive performance that aligns with the enterprise’s human capital strategy and will serve in an operational lead capacity, providing guidance to the People Partners on employee life cycle matters, employee retention and engagement, organizational design and workforce planning, employee and labor relations, and core management issues. Under the direction of the San Manuel Tribal Community Services - Special Services Division, the Protective Services Specialist (PSS) is responsible for the close protection of the Tribal Council, the Executive Leadership team, Tribal Citizens, and employees of the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians. The Protective Services Specialist trains to the same Federal standards as the Department of the State’s Office of High Threat Protection and adds concierge services seen in the industry of executive protection. This position also provides all strategic, tactical, and concierge functions of the Special Services Division (SSD) by maintaining close communication with leadership during client movement and remaining vigilant and alert while on assignment. The Protective Services Specialist provides best-in-class services for designated San Manuel Band of Mission Indians (SMBMI) Tribal Government Officials, Tribal Citizens, Executives, and other VIPs, both on and off SMBMI Reservation property.
With a focus on helping San Manuel Tribal families and citizens, the Tribal Wellness Educator provides a range of activities and programs within the department that are intended to have a positive effect on the health and well-being of the community. Reporting to the Director of Tribal Family Services, the Tribal Wellness Clinician provides support and services that have been identified to meet the physical, mental, and psychosocial needs of the Tribal Community while maintaining the strictest confidentiality in compliance with applicable law. The Tribal Wellness Clinician supports and provides services to the Tribal Citizens, which may include; receiving and making calls to Tribal Citizens, providing resources, responding to crisis’ and triaging their needs. This may also include providing wellness checks and/or providing case management, home visits, and meeting with citizens. The Tribal Wellness Clinician works to assist in connecting and coordinating the community with private and public agencies to provide services through a referral network that is reputable, vetted and subject/service-appropriate. The Tribal Wellness Clinician also engages in providing prevention/early intervention (PEI) services to the community.
Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, and the HR Manager will lead and mentor a team of dynamic HR Specialist in addressing talent management, employee engagement, organizational design and core management issues. This key role will partner with stakeholders across the San Manuel to build an effective, engaged and inspired workforce. The HR Manager will collaborate with HR colleagues and department management throughout the San Manuel to diagnose root causes and drive solutions for issues negatively impacting productivity and the employee experience. Under the direction of the VP, Human Resources, the Sr HR Policy and Documentation Specialist (Sr Specialist) is an anticipatory and forward-thinking contributor responsible for leading and governing the comprehensive processes around HR policy management and the technical documentation needs of the department. The Sr Specialist brings a breadth of HR experience and expert writing capabilities to work cross-functionally with other subject matter experts and leaders on activities related to end-to-end HR policy and documentation management that aligns with the Tribe’s values, expectations of its workforce, and employment laws.
Under the direction of the Chief Investment Officer, the Investment Operations Analyst in collaboration with the Investment Operations Associate, is responsible for the operations and administrative elements of the investments for the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians (SMBMI) Sovereign Wealth Fund. The work involves activities such as coordinating with the Fund custodian and Tribal Finance, facilitating documentation, reporting, and capital flows on an ongoing basis, and supporting the preparation of reports to the Investment Board.

Properties include but are not limited to, YRC Casino, YRC Hotel, YRC Retail, YRC Entertainment Venue, YRC Amenities, YRC Food & Beverage areas, SMBMI Reservation, and numerous SMBMI remote site locations. The Surveillance Technician reads and interprets system diagrams/schematics and is proficient in using tools and testing instruments, as tasks include performing and assisting with installation/uninstallation of components and infrastructure of Surveillance Department systems. The Surveillance Technician is also responsible for installation and cross connecting of Surveillance Department systems components such as servers, network switches, storage devices, and PC workstations, etc. This position also assists in the technical design, planning, implementation, and the highest level of performance and recovery for mission critical surveillance systems.

The Information Technology (IT) department for the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians provides and supports a leading-edge technology infrastructure for the enterprise in support of ever-changing technological advances in the Gaming industry and the Tribe’s ventures. The Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer I is responsible for creating and implementing tests that are designed to identify issues with software before and after the product launch. Through proper test methodology, the QA Engineer I detect, document, and reports defects in efforts to make the application(s) stable and meet the business objectives.
The Compliance Investigator is a critical role within the Enterprise Legal Compliance department. Under the direction of the VP, Enterprise Legal Compliance, the Compliance Investigator, either individually or in collaboration with department stakeholders, identifies, researches, analyzes and/or resolves potential conflicts of interest; conducts complex vendor due diligence and compliance investigations; and manages all related data and recordkeeping. The Investigator accurately and confidentially conducts research and/or investigations that may be multifaceted and involve complex facts and circumstances, in accordance with Tribal policies and procedures. The Investigator is involved with evaluating and enforcing compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and rules; collecting and analyzing evidence; and preparing detailed, concise and accurate reports. To perform these tasks, the Investigator will utilize their knowledge and experience in legal compliance to make sound judgment calls in highly subjective circumstances.

This ensures compliance with state and federal surveillance requirements for the operation of gaming activities. This includes but is not limited to installation, repair, and maintenance of surveillance systems at properties owned and operated by SMBMI. Properties include but are not limited to, SMC Casino, SMC Hotel, SMC Retail, SMC Entrainment Venue, SMC Amenities, SMC Food & Beverage areas, SMBMI Reservation, and numerous SMBMI remote site locations. The Surveillance Systems Administrator plays a mission critical role in the deployment, configuration, security, monitoring, maintenance and troubleshooting of Surveillance Department systems. This position serves as a specialist on multiple operating systems and platforms supporting large scale computing. The Systems Administrator applies professional experience and training in Information Technology (IT) to the most complex assignments requiring development and installation of operating system software, systems programming and modification of operating systems, performance analysis, database maintenance, and management, security administration, and management of data storage. The Surveillance Systems Administrator is responsible for participation in the technical design, planning, implementation, and the highest level of performance tuning and recovery for mission critical systems. This role additionally assists in investigations, analyzes feasibility of system requirements, and develops system specifications.
Under the direction of the Public Safety Dispatch Shift Manager, the Public Safety Dispatcher will be responsible for performing their duties and responsibilities in accordance with all established laws and regulations to include the San Manuel Department of Public Safety Policies and Procedures. These duties will include operating all radio-telephone transmitting and receiving equipment along with the computer-aided dispatch system; All information must be recorded in a timely, accurate manner, recording all pertinent information for emergency and non-emergency request for service from the San Manuel Tribal Community, Resort, Casino, Offsite properties; as well as law enforcement agencies, fire, medical or other emergency services. This position uses multiple communications systems to coordinate emergency calls; relay information and assistance; directly coordinates requests involving law enforcement agencies and other emergency response personnel, provides notifications in accordance with predetermined plans across all San Manuel Departments. The Public Safety Dispatcher will compile data, maintain records of emergency response, equipment and personnel dispatched and disposition of all calls for services (emergency and non-emergency), studies and maintains familiarity with locations of streets, landmarks and properties on and off the reservation and in the casino. This role keeps radio contact with DPS personnel on assignment, keeps supervising officers informed of situations, and dispatches additional record files. This individual maintains communication and serves as a liaison with other agencies. The Public Safety Dispatcher will assist with threat analysis and risk assessments as directed by the San Manuel Intel Division and will enter any Officer Safety or public safety related “Be on the Lookout” (BOLO) issued from DPS, other San Manuel Departments, or Other Allied Law Enforcement agencies into the CAD system.The Public Safety Dispatcher aligns themselves with the initiatives of the Department of Public Safety while championing the goals and priorities of the Tribe in a manner that faithfully reflects and upholds the Tribal Community’s vision, mission and values.

Under the direction of the San Manuel Utility Authority Principal Engineer, the High Voltage Systems Specialist is a journey level expert with advanced experience, who will hold the primary responsibility of ensuring the substation and switchgear are available, reliable, and maintained per ANSINETA standards while serving as a subject matter expert across the enterprise. The High Voltage System Specialist also provides on-site, after-hours on-call outage response. In the event of an outage, incumbent must be able to be on-site within thirty (30) minutes of initial contact.

Under the direction of the Shift Sergeant, the Lead Public Safety Assistant (PSA) is a uniformed, unarmed position responsible for providing physical security to the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians (SMBMI) Reservation and all its tribal members, Tribal assets, employees, customers, facilities and DPS components. Physical security includes but not limited to protecting the assets of the tribe, maintaining control of access points on the reservation and at DPS components, preventing vandalism and working with others to guard against fire, flood, and other natural disasters. The Lead PSA will act as liaison between the shift supervision and the shift PSAs. Lead PSAs must deliver critical security services in a business oriented, courteous, and professional manner. This position requires exceptional customer relations skills. Lead PSAs are involved with the public safety and security rules and regulations under the State of California, Federal, and Tribal Government codes, securing an assigned area, assisting with securing of incident scenes, identifying victims/witnesses, locating evidence, and may be asked to assist in the preparing of appropriate reports.
Under the direction of the Director, Surveillance Technical, the Manager, Surveillance Systems is responsible for oversight of the installation, maintenance, stability, optimization, and integrity of surveillance system applications and supporting equipment and ensures compliance with state and federal surveillance requirements for the operation of gaming activities. The Manager, Surveillance Systems, is accountable for providing 24/7 technical support in response to enterprise needs and may be required to provide support beyond normal working hours.
Based in Irvine California, under the direction of the Chief Investment Officer (CIO), the Director, Investment Strategies is responsible for broad asset class investments including developing and recommending investment structure and policy, monitoring managers, and implementing Investment Board approved plans on a risk-relative basis to attain portfolio-optimization. With the long-term financial health of the tribal nation in mind, the Director, Investment Strategies works closely with the CIO to implement a portfolio across traditional and alternative asset classes, helping to manage investment team members. This position also manages, implements, maintains and explains strategies, and readily addresses a wide range of markets and issues.
