Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Golf Course Superintendent, the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for developing a daily departmental work schedule and coordinating the related activities with the staff. The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent also leads the overall maintenance operation in the absence of the Golf Course Superintendent.
  • Exhibit conduct in accordance with all Gaming Commission Regulations, Federal and State laws and regulations, and Golden Nugget and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Consistently deliver positive, courteous and professional guest service in all interactions with guests, visitors, vendors and fellow employees.
  • Schedule and supervise the daily operations of the maintenance crew
  • Plan, schedule, and monitor the daily operations, including responsibility for coordinating and assigning work, and ensure adequate staffing for meeting departmental goals.
  • Establish, promote and enforce safety practices in accordance with local, state and federal regulations.  Train employees in safety procedures and internal procedures.
  • Ensure cleanliness of the golf course equipment, maintenance facility and grounds
  • Assist staff in the daily work schedule.
  • Assist with the preparation, development, and management of the operating budget.  Monitor and control departmental budget expenses.  Perform all functions within the limits of the budget.
  • Assist the Golf Course Superintendent with record keeping for supplies, daily logs, application records, climatic condition records and personnel records.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the necessary cultural maintenance programs necessary to keep the golf course and casino grounds in good condition, including the application of pesticides and fertilizers.
  • Recruit, select, train, coach, counsel, recognize and retain direct reports who consistently perform actions and behaviors that reinforce excellence in business operations and guest service.
  • Stay abreast of current trends and practices within area of responsibility and communicate pertinent information to management, peers, direct reports and employees as appropriate.
  • Promote positive public/employee relations at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment within area of responsibility.
  • Safeguard the confidential information of all employee, department and company records.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to ensuring responsible gaming and responsible alcohol service by discreetly notifying appropriate management of concerns and observations.
  • Ensure prompt and discrete notification to senior management and/or the Ethics Hotline of any observation of illegal acts and/or internal ethics violations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

GAMING INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE IS PREFERRED

Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two (2) or Four (4) year degree or certificate in Turf Management or related field, like agronomy, horticulture, plant science, or soil science.
  • Two (2) years of work experience in golf course maintenance operation.
 
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must have solid decision-making, organization, and interpersonal skills.  Excellent verbal communication skills are required.  The ability to thrive in a fast-paced multi-tasking, hands-on environment.  Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional working relationships with all individuals. Ability to work occasional overtime and irregular hours.
