Responsible for the successful overall direction of all activities in the Surveillance Department. To ensure all gaming activity is played in accordance with the rules and in compliance with gaming regulations
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include:
- Directly supervises the activities of all of the Surveillance Employees on property, and indirectly oversees the activities of all Employees who work on the gaming floor.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Creates, develops and implements an effective plan of departmental policies and procedures, maintaining consistency with established company guidelines and controls.
- Ensures the quality of operations in the Surveillance Department.
- Maintains a working knowledge of all rules and regulations of the Gaming Commission, and ensures strict adherence to same throughout the property.
- Protects company assets and gaming integrity, through the consistent, thorough monitoring of all activities on property, particularly on the gaming floor.
- Directs the flow of Surveillance Reports to the proper individuals within the company, always maintaining the highest level of confidentiality.
- Communicates with all department heads, to ensure problems are effectively and promptly resolved.
- Maintains appropriate staffing levels in the Surveillance Department, by interviewing, selecting, training, scheduling, evaluating, promoting, disciplining and terminating Employees, as needed.
- Establishes reporting system for Surveillance-related matters, and informs Casino Management, as well as outside agencies, when cheating, theft, embezzlement or suspicious activities take place on property.
- Coordinates, with the Security Department, when Surveillance discovers a matter, which needs further investigation or attention.
- Facilitates the flow of information throughout the department, by organizing and presiding over regularly scheduled meetings with all Surveillance Employees.
- Studies cheating activity and trends in other gaming areas, particularly Las Vegas, in order to take precautionary measures to deter cheating at this property.
- Regularly inspects the premises, identifying potential safety or security hazards, and reporting same to the appropriate individual or entity, for proper resolution.
- Reviews surveillance tapes and reports, providing detailed information to appropriate company officials and outside agencies, as needed
- Held accountable, to a high degree, for the accuracy and thoroughness of departmental records and reports.
- Controls and maintains closed circuit television surplus spare parts inventory, and ensures proper functioning of all surveillance equipment, coordinating outside repairs and maintenance as necessary.
GAMING INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED
Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or related area from a four-year college or university; or five to six years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
