Oversees the gaming enterprises for the Hopland Band of Pomo Indians and operates the Casino to maximize profitability, customer satisfaction, and employee productivity. Collaborates with Tribal Council in developing and managing the annual business plan and long range strategic planning. Ensures compliance with Casino policies and procedures and with the laws, policies, and ordinances of the Hopland Band of Pomo Indians (HBPI) and Hopland Gaming Commission (HGC).
- Assures that the Casino, its missions, programs, products and services are consistently presented in a positive, professional business manner.
- Ensures that all gaming operations are performed in accordance with the approved business plan, system of internal controls, Tribal Gaming Regulations, Tribal and State Compact and Gaming Ordinances.
- Effectively manages staff to achieve desired goals according to established policies and procedures in accordance with current laws and regulations.
- Ensures that a commendable level of customer service and satisfaction throughout the property is achieved and maintained.
- Oversees the creation of the annual budget for review and approval by the Tribal Council and prudently manages the gaming enterprise’s resources within those budget guidelines according to current laws and regulations.
- Facilitates the flow of information throughout the property by organizing and presiding over regularly scheduled meetings
- Ensures yearly review and updates of Casino Personnel Policies & Procedures.
- Promotes the employment, professional development and advancement of qualified Tribal Members.
- Develops effective Casino procedures and controls through audits and reviews and per regulations.
- Provides oversight for all phases of gaming property construction, development, maintenance and improvement of the gaming facilities.
- Responsible for formulating and implementing corrective action for violations of policies and procedures.
- Decides final outcome of all recommendations and suggestions to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, evaluate, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline any employee of the Casino.
- Coordinates the preparation of a wide variety of reports or presentations to the Tribal Council and/or the Tribal Membership.
GAMING INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE IS PREFERRED
- Must have integrity, initiative, self-motivation, a high level of communication skills and be able to operate in a “team approach” environment.
- Must have an applicable knowledge of gaming operations; documented work experience that illustrates the applicant’s ability to review, evaluate and recommend changes in management policies, operating systems, sales and plan development.
- Must have experience and appreciation of a strict regulatory environment; Tribal Ordinances, Gaming Compact, Gaming Commission Regulations and policies and procedures.
- Must have prior experience that demonstrates the applicant’s skills, knowledge, and abilities in all of the following areas: business experience in the gaming industry, fiscal management, supervisory management, facility management and project management.
- Must have personal qualities of high integrity, trustworthiness, dedication, and loyalty.
- Culturally sensitive, effective and affective within a multi-cultural setting, supports diversity.
- Must possess the aptitude to operate computers, printers and/or other office equipment; proficiency in Outlook and MS-Office Suite a plus.
- Master’s degree preferred. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year or university preferably in Finance, Personnel Management, Business Administration/Management or related field; ten (10) years Senior Management experience; including five (5) years in a similar size gaming enterprise.
- Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
